Foxes and Raccoons

Waking up to find an overturned bin is a sure sign that you've had an overnight visit from a fox!

There are more than 250,000 foxes in the UK.
Over time, they've adapted so well to living alongside humans that they even eat the things we do - or rather, what's left over.

So if you wake up to find rubbish everywhere, the chances are there's a fox not far away.

In America you could well wake up to a similar problem.

The scene would be the same, but the culprit wouldn't be a fox - it'd be a raccoon like this one.
Raccoons can be found all over America. Like foxes, they've learned to live alongside humans.

But unlike UK foxes, American raccoons sometimes even break into houses and set up home in the roof space! That might sound cool - but because they're nocturnal creatures it would mean a major disturbance at night!
