Octopus

This is a common octopus from the Brighton Sea Life Centre.

The octopus is apparently one of the most intelligent and agile creatures on the planet.

Normally they live in the Mediterranean sea.
They're meant to be so agile that they fit through the smallest of cracks, and so intelligent that they can solve complex problems.

So we put it to the test!
This special tank is partitioned, and the bits at either end are linked by three tubes of differing widths.

The octopus has to work out which of the tubes he can squeeze through to get to the far side of the tank.
So, Stephen removed the piece of perspex which revealed the tubes to the octopus, and very soon the first of his legs reached into the largest of the three tubes.

And then, through he went - successfully through to the other side - so proving that the octopus is indeed very agile and intelligent!
