It's challenge time for Gail and Stephen!

This challenge involves milk…
…and camels!

Stephen introduced two dromedary camels from Africa.

They're actually one of the most prolific producers of milk in the world.
If you live in the desert, camel milk is one of the best sources of protein that you can get.

Millions of people drink the stuff every day!
So what does it taste like?

Stephen said it didn't taste so bad, but Gail wasn't convinced!
The hundreds and thousands of camels which produce milk for people to drink each year are actually milked by hand – and that's the challenge!
Gail and Stephen had just thirty seconds to see how much milk they could each get from the camel.
It's quite easy – you just put two fingers on top of the teat, give a little squeeze, pull down, and hopefully some milk will be forthcoming!
Camel herders in the desert have had years of practice – so how did Gail and Stephen manage, with none?
Stephen made a good start…
…but Gail had a few problems!
Stephen won the challenge!

But in the same amount of time that Gail and Stephen had, a professional herdsman would have got this much milk!
Amazingly, a camel can produce up to 3,000 litres of milk in one year.

That's enough milk to keep a family of 4 going for seven years!

You'd need a milk float twice the size of this one to deliver it all!
