You wouldn't think that there's anything very high tech about these bubbles, would you?
You also wouldn't think that these bubbles had anything to do with washing, would you?
Well believe it or not, there is a connection.

It became clear when the studio lights were lowered.
Wow!

The reason that the bubbles didn't look this cool under normal lighting is that they're fluorescent.

When ultra violet light is shined on them, they glow!
The bubbles are called Techno Bubbles - a mixture of soap and water (just like ordinary bubbles), but with an added special ingredient which makes them fluorescent.
This is what they have in common with this t-shirt, or rather the washing powder that it was washed in.
Fluorescent things glow in ultra violet light. Even though you can't see it, sunlight has ultra violet light in it.

So if you were to use fluorescent washing powder on the t-shirt, it would glow in the sun. This is often what's meant by "making whites whiter" in TV soap powder ads.
Techno Bubbles can be used for loads more things other than bubbles, too.

Kate painted a secret message on the back of her t-shirt using the bubble fluid and a brush. Good, eh?
And Fearne painted a tattoo on her arm using the same fluid.
These bubbles have really caught on in nightclubs in the USA, and they'll be in this country from next year.
