Do you have trouble remembering to put your socks away?
Can you never find a matching pair?
And do you ever find ancient socks under your bed?
Then you need one of these - the Finger Tips Athlete's Foot Locker!
It's the ideal place for storing socks of all kinds. Just unlock and open to find a fresh pair of socks ready for action!
| |
It's really easy to make.
You'll need a couple of boxes like this, with built-in hinges.
Stick two boxes together like this, to give two built-in compartments.
| |
To give the Athlete's Foot Locker a metallic look, you can either paint it silver or get some silver card and draw around all the sides.
If you use the card method, carefully cut each of the sides out and stick them onto the box.
Paint the inside of the box any colour you like...
| |
...and then add detail to the outside by drawing on screws and other detail using a black permanent pen.
And two small metal hinges (which you can get from your local DIY store for next to nothing) about a hand width from the bottom and top.
| |
Connect the hinges to the locker up by lining them up.
Use a sharp pencil to make holes...
...and then attach the hinges in place with paper fasteners.
| |
Once the hinges are in place you can make the handle and locking device.
To do this, just cut out a 10cm piece of card that's the same width as a ruler.
| |
Then cut a small section out from the middle. This will be the handle.
Bend in both ends and give the centre part a curve, like this.
Stick the handle to the door, flush against the side, making sure that the curve is maintained.
| |
Place the piece of card from which the handle was cut on the door too, around the handle, like this.
Bend it around the edge and stick it down in place.
| |
For added strength why not add more paper fasteners, like this?
They look great - just like screws!
And for extra security why not add a mini padlock?
Just make sure you don't lose the key.
| |
An authentic looking ventilation grille completes the effect - it's just a piece of card with slits cut into it, fanned upwards.
And that's it.
You could make a smaller version using one box...
| |
...or try different coloured versions.
And remember to decorate the inside, to make it look just like a real American school locker.
