These bowls look fantastic and they're made with no painting whatsoever.
| |
All you need is a plastic bowl, some different coloured scraps of paper, and some PVA glue.
Start by turning the plastic bowl upside down.
It's a good idea to sit it on top of another bowl or pot, so that you can easily turn it round as you add the different layers.
| |
Next, spread a layer of PVA glue all over the top and sides of the bowl.
Tear or cut out some fish shapes in silver or gold paper, and place them on the bowl with the shiny side facing downwards.
| |
Then take some green paper pieces, cut into the shape of weeds, and place them down too.
Now take some pieces of tissue paper in green and blue and stick them all over the top.
Pop more layers of PVA glue over them.
| |
Do this until you've covered the whole bowl.
When dry, it should look like this.
Don't worry if you can see through it a little bit because the next step...
| |
...is to paste on a layer of white paper pieces with more PVA glue.
Again, keep going until the whole thing is covered.
When done and dry, it'll look like this.
| |
Next - paste on a few layers of newspaper for extra strength.
Again, allow to dry.
For the outside of the bowl, you need some squares of wrapping paper.
Any pattern you like is fine.
| |
Start pasting them on with more PVA glue, but this time stick down so that the pattern faces outwards.
Cover the whole thing, and allow to dry.
Leaving the bowl somewhere warm will speed the process up.
| |
Finally, pop out the plastic bowl to reveal...
...an incredible inside out bowl with a smooth finish and a beautiful decoration built in!
