Have you got an old pair of jeans that you've grown out of, and a load of old bits and bobs that just don't belong anywhere?
Here's a great way of combining both in a piece of recycling genius!
This is the Finger Tips Bum Board - the ideal place to keep all those notes, photos and reminders that you can't afford to forget!
| |
If you want to make it, the first thing to do is cut the legs off an old pair of jeans, so that you get a nice pair of jean shorts.
Then you need to separate the front from the back.
The easiest way to do this is by using an unpicker, but you could also carefully cut along the seams using scissors. But remember, jeans are pretty tough to cut!
| |
Once you've separated the front from the back, lay the back onto a large piece of cardboard and draw around it.
Cut the resulting shape out...
...to give you the back board.
| |
Now lay out the back of the jeans again, taking care to line up the edges of both jeans and cardboard.
Put some fabric glue all around the edge of the cardboard...
...and check the line-up at the edges again as you stick the jeans down.
Don't glue the top (the waist part) you need to leave that open.
| |
Stick map or drawing pins through the jeans, into the cardboard, to keep everything in place whilst the glue dries.
Next, remove any belt loops from the front of the jeans and, if there is one, the little pocket too.
| |
Stick the belt loops back onto the Bum Board, at the top, using more fabric glue.
When dry they're great for hanging things onto!
Stick the pocket towards the bottom of the jeans, again by using fabric glue.
This little pocket is perfect for keeping pens in!
| |
Once all the glue has dried, you can make the buttocks!
Just take two freezer bags and fill them up with polystyrene balls.
Round off the bags by taping up the corners.
Push the bags in from the top, behind the pockets.
If the jeans feel baggy, just pour in more loose polystyrene balls until you're happy with the overall feel.
| |
Glue up the top (waist) of the jeans, and then cut off any excess cardboard.
To glam up your Bum Board, get some glitter glue and paint on any design you fancy.
| |
And when you've finished that, you can hang up your Bum Board.
A couple of keyring loops make it very easy to do this.
Remember that you can adapt the idea - you don't have to stop at jeans - how about a Bermuda Bum Board...
| |
...or a Camouflage version?
Just use map pins to secure everything in place.
