This is the Finger Tips Cash Cow, and it's an irresistible way to save money!
It not only looks great - it makes a fantastic, realistic noise too!
Plus, it's a great way to recycle some old rubbish, because it includes a mousse pot, some 35mm film canisters and a wipes tub!
| |
The moo sound comes from a moo box!
These don't cost much to buy and can usually be obtained from most toy or joke shops.
Start by making the Cash Cow's back legs.
For them, you'll need two large lolly sticks. You can get these from craft shops.
| |
Carefully cut them down using a pair of scissors, to the height of two film canisters...
...then pop some glue on the end of each stick, and secure them in place in the rim of the film canister.
It's a good idea to use an elastic band around each film canister to keep the lolly sticks in place whilst they're drying.
| |
The crossbar is made from another large lolly stick.
Cut it down to the height of one film canister...
...and stick it horizontally, about 1cm down from the top of the other two lolly sticks.
| |
The front legs are made in just the same way, but you don't have to cut down the sticks at the top this time.
You do, however, need to make sure that the crossbars are at exactly the same height!
An empty mousse pot makes the perfect shape for the head.
| |
To attach it, dab PVA glue on the ends of the front legs with a brush, and glue the mousse pot on to the very end.
When it's dry, it will look like this.
| |
Add some card to the back to tidy up the appearance...
...cut down a couple of cocktail stirrers to make ears...
| |
...and add a pair of small polystyrene balls to make great eyes!
Lastly, the body is made from an empty wet wipes tub.
Take off the lid and stick empty sewing machine bobbins to the top and bottom, using PVA glue.
| |
When glue has dried, pop the lid back on and carefully cut a hole into the side of the wipes tub, so that you can drop money inside!
You can tidy the hole up by taking a square piece of foam and cutting a slit in the middle.
Glue the piece of foam over the hole you already made to neaten it up. It'll also help to keep the coins in the Cash Cow when the body turns!
| |
To make sure that the mooing sound escapes, make some holes in one end of the wipes tub by using a sharp pencil.
Then carefully pop the moo box inside the wipe tub!
Make sure that the holes in the moo box line up with the holes you made in the wipes tub.
| |
You can give the whole thing extra strength by sticking it to the lid of a shoebox.
Also, fill the film canisters with sand.
Paint the Cash Cow to your heart's desire.
This one has a classic black and white Fresian design...
| |
...as well as a tail made from an old piece of rope...
...and a little bell, too!
| |
You can also make hooves by curving round some shiny black card, too!
And if you're really serious about saving money how about making another design like this sheep...
| |
...or this cat?
