Here's how to make this Chip Pot - a handy pot disguised as a scrummy portion of very realistic looking chips!
| |
The chips are made from washing up sponges.
Just take a pair of scissors and carefully cut them longways...
...and then in half.
Nice chunky chips!
| |
Now take a mug of cooled black tea and dunk each of the sponge pieces straight in.
Squeeze out any excess tea, and leave them to dry.
| |
When they have dried, they'll look like this.
Very realistic crispy, chunky chips.
The bowl base is made from a disposable fruit salad plastic bowl.
| |
Next, take some newspaper and PVA glue.
Cover both the inside and outside with strips of newspaper pasted on with the glue.
When dry, it'll look like this.
| |
Next, grab a toilet roll tube and cut it down to this size - half the height of a fish food tub.
Cut a notch into one side, like this.
| |
Cover in newspaper, and glue around the rim of one end with some stick glue.
Stick the cut down tube into the middle of the bowl.
| |
Now the messy part!
Get some sheets of newspaper and lie them onto an opened-out bin liner, to protect your work surface.
Cover them with PVA glue. Brush loads on, all over, until you've covered both sides and it's gone nice and soggy.
Pick up the gluey newspaper and scrunch it all around the pot in the middle.
This is where the chips will go.
| |
The glue will dry clear and hold everything in place.
So, just add the chips...
...and cover them with another layer of PVA glue, so that they're held securely in place.
| |
Ketchup can be added by mixing red paint with PVA glue.
Add in a dollop!
And complete the effect with a wooden chip fork from your local chip shop!
| |
Just add the fish food and you've finished - your very own Finger Tips Chip Pot - a themed container for your fish food!
