With the Finger Tips Communication Station you'll never lose your TV's remote control again! Plus, you'll always have a pen and paper handy and you'll never be short of the odd snack or two!
| |
It's made from a selection of different pots, tubs and boxes.
First, find a box that your remote control will fit into comfortably.
This biscuit box fitted ours very easily.
If your box is a little bit too big, you can always just cut it down to size.
Now draw a diagonal line like this on both sides of the box.
| |
Carefully cut along the lines so that you're left with a wedge-shaped box that looks like this.
This will become your remote control tray!
| |
Now find a box that'll house a small notepad.
We used a soft cheese tub, which is perfect because it's got a rim around the outside, which comes in very handy when you're putting the Communication Station together!
Next you'll need an empty cereal box.
This will be the base for the Communication Station.
| |
Draw around the tub for the notepad onto the cereal box...
...followed by the remote control tray.
| |
Then cut the shapes out so that you have two holes that look something like this.
Slot in both the tub and tray to check that they fit.
If they don't, you may need to make the holes a bit bigger.
| |
Now you can glue the tub and tray into the cereal box.
PVA is ideal for this.
The rim of the tub comes in handy now - just dab the glue on and then place the tub into position.
For the remote control tray, a little dab of glue on the bottom like this should be fine...
| |
...followed by a little dab of glue on this end of the tray as well.
Now you can make the shelf that will hold the pots for your pens and snacks.
Take a piece of card and draw around the edge of the Communication Station twice like this, so that the shapes are right next to each other.
| |
Cut the piece of card out, fold it in half...
...then stick it onto the side of the Communication Station like this.
| |
Now you can add on an assortment of different pots.
Stick them onto the card shelf with PVA glue. Yoghurt and dessert pots are ideal.
For decoration, why not add a soap box and a couple of plastic sweet dispensers, like these?
| |
Plus, sweet tubes make great pen holders!
These can go on the other side of the Communication Station.
Once you've decided where you're going to put everything, make a note of the positions.
It's a good idea to paint everything before you stick the pots and tubes down.
| |
If you're painting onto the plastic pots, use acrylic paint or poster paint mixed with PVA glue.
The glue helps the poster paint stick to the plastic. It'll just flake off without it!
The radar dishes are made from circular foil trays.
| |
Cut off the rim and make four slits into the disc that you're left with.
Bend into position so that they overlap slightly and a dish shape emerges.
Stick them down on the back with a little tape.
The dish should look like this when you've done.
If you pierce a hole through the middle you can thread a bendy straw through to make an antenna!
| |
The other radar dish is made in the same way.
Take the disc from a foil tray but cut it into a bow tie shape.
It's entirely up to you where you put the radar dishes.
In this picture you can see that we've added rivets and extra detail with a permanent marker to the painted surfaces.
| |
You can add even more detail with golf tees...
...and painted lolly sticks!
| |
To finish, just load up the Communication Station with the TV remote control...
...notepad and pens...
| |
and plenty of sweets!
