If you love chocolate you'll love this double dose of chocolate - the Everlasting Chocolate Box.
It's got a tempting selection of everlasting chocolates on the outside...
...hiding a delicious stack of edible truffles on the inside!
To make these you'll need: chocolate chunks (milk, plain or white - it's up to you), softened butter, digestive biscuits, sieved icing sugar and some cocoa powder.
| |
Start by crushing 100g of digestive biscuits.
The best way to do this is to put them into a plastic bag and use a rolling pin to bash them up.
Next, put 175g of chocolate into a microwaveable bowl.
| |
Carefully melt the chocolate in a microwave, taking it out to give it a stir occasionally.
To the chocolate you need to add 50g of softened butter, 50g of icing sugar and the crushed biscuits.
| |
Give it all a good mix!
Then leave it to chill in the fridge for 10 minutes.
Take about a teaspoon of the mixture and roll it into a truffle shape.
| |
Roll it in your hands or on a chopping board.
To give your truffle that proper truffle look, roll it in cocoa powder.
| |
Finally, put the truffle in a paper truffle case.
The mixture should make about 16 truffles.
The everlasting chocolates on top of the box are made from polystyrene balls (try and get truffle size ones, like this one!)
| |
You'll also need some acrylic paints to paint the balls - a creamy colour for white chocolate, a light brown for milk chocolate and a dark brown for dark chocolate.
Push a kebab skewer into the polystyrene ball.
| |
Then put the ball in the paint and roll it until it's completely covered.
Place the skewer in a mug so that the paint can dry.
| |
When they're dry you can add toppings.
This one's got a pink candy topping. Fabric paint works brilliantly for this kind of detail.
Once again, use a mug to help you keep them upright whilst the paint dries.
| |
Give the truffles any topping you like. Cover them with acrylic varnish to give them a shiny finish.
This one's wrapped in gold foil.
| |
Stick the truffles onto a piece of card or foam.
Attach them to the top of a box - any type will do, as long as the lid opens and closes.
.
Pop the truffles inside.
| |
The Everlasting Chocolate Box is a brilliant present for anyone.
You could pile the chocolates up high or cover them with coloured wrappers.
Or make some pastel coloured bonbons... mmmm, almost good enough to eat!
