Turn heads with this clever trick - your mates will think you're head can spin right round!
You need two boxes - one that your head fits into, and another, bigger one, that the first box can turn around inside.
Cut out a window from the smaller box so that your face fits through. Do the same with the bigger box, but make the window slightly bigger.
| |
The smaller box is held by a tube which sits inside another tube which is stuck to the top of the bigger box.
To make the handle, flatten out one end of a cling film tube.
In the centre of ANOTHER tube, measure out the width of the flattened-out end. Cut a slit the same length.
| |
Cut one exactly the same on the opposite side of the tube, so that you can insert the flattened part of the tube all the way through, as you can see opposite.
Don't glue it though!
The handle should look like this!
| |
Another outer tube will make sure that the handle swivels.
To make this, cut a loo roll tube straight down the side, lengthways.
Wrap it round the handle, but not too tightly. Fix with masking tape so that the inner tube can still swivel.
Now you need to connect the loo roll tube to the top of the bigger box.
To do this, cut slits half way up the loo roll tube and all the way round.
| |
Make a hole in the top of the bigger box, right in the centre.
To find the centre, draw two diagonal lines from corner to corner. Where they cross is the centre. The hole should be the same size as the loo roll tube.
Line up the loo roll tube with the centre of the box top, so the slits are spread out. Stick it down.
| |
Take a piece of card that's the same size as the top of the box, and cut a hole in the centre of it.
Stick this on top of the loo roll tube to strengthen the seal and neaten it.
Now you need to do a similar thing with the smaller box, for the handle to go down.
Take the handle and try it out by putting it through the loo roll that's attached to the big box . Leave a little gap at the top.
| |
Then - holding the tube there - turn the box upside down and make a pencil mark on the tube where the top of the box is.
Cut lots of slits up the handle tube to that point.
| |
Now cut out a piece of card the same size as the top of the smaller box. Cut a hole precisely in centre, for the handle to fit through, just like you did with the bigger box.
Push the tube through the card hole.
Fan out the separate bits and stick in place on the top of the box.
| |
When all the glue is dry decorate the boxes however you like!
To put it all together, take the handle top off. Put the bigger box over the smaller box, with the small tube going inside the bigger one.
Then put the handle in place on top!
| |
To test, put the box on your head.
Get someone to turn it in an anti-clockwise direction. As they do this, turn your head to your left...
| |
...as your assistant keeps turning, turn your head to your right (when the audience can't see you)...
...and when the box hole comes round again, move your head to face the front again!
It will look like your head's twisted all the way round!
