How do you fancy having coolest party around?

If you do, why not thrown an L.A. Cool Pool Party!
There are loads of decorations you can make to give your party that cool L.A. atmosphere.

How about some palm trees, made from recycled plant pots or old polystyrene or paper cups painted brown, with leaves made from green crepe paper?
Fairy lights will add some sparkle...
...and for extra decoration you could make some cut out colourful beach balls?
Plus, why not hang up some lanterns?

You can buy them in the shops or make them yourself either from paper or coloured acetate!
Lay on a spread of barbecue food like ribs and sweetcorn, served with slices of juicy watermelon!
And serve drinks made with exotic fruit juices, complete with mini pool umbrellas!
Guests should dress for the L.A. sunshine, in flip flops, shirts, vests and shades!
And once the chat has died down why not entertain your party guests with a cool poolside game, - Flip The Disc!
The aim is to get as many diving balls into the water as you can.

Each player should have their own coloured set of diving balls, and the one who gets the most hits is the winner!
To make Flip The Disc you'll need to get hold of a supermarket produce box, like this one.
Turn it upside down and use an old CD to draw a circle in the centre of the base.

Cut the circle out - the easiest way to do that is to cut from the edge of the box.
Make sure that the hole is bigger than the CD so that the CD will fit in and out easily.
Add some blue, shiny card to the top to look like shimmering water and to cover up those cut marks!
A cardboard frame gives a nice edge and a raised poolside effect.
To make the CD spin, take a wooden kebab skewer and tape it to the middle of the CD.
Carefully cut off the ends of the skewer using a pair of scissors, leaving about one finger width of skewer on each side.
Cover the CD in the same paper you used for the water, and add a splash design cut from white paper on one side.
To make it spin really nicely, get two pieces of drinking straw and pop one on each end.
Next, either directly stick this straight to the box or, if you want it to be completely level with the poolside, cut out a little groove on either side of the hole and drop the straws into the grooves.

Then use tape to stick in place.
Now you can add finishing touches like handrails made from drinking straws, painted silver!
.
Also, paint on a tiled floor...
And neaten the whole thing up with coloured card around the edges.
It's a good idea to have a decorative backboard so that you don't lose any misfires.

Decorate yours however you like or download our cool L.A. apartment backboard by clicking here.
The diving board is made by stretching a balloon over a coffee jar lid.

And the balls are just modelling clay!
Players should take turns to launch their balls by bouncing them off the diving board.

Good luck!
