Check out the Finger Tips Minidisc Holder!
| |
It's the perfect place for storing your mini discplayer and headphones...
...and, of course, your minidiscs!
| |
The Minidisc Holder started out as a box, a plastic takeaway container and some coffee cup lids.
A tissue box is a good size for the main body of the holder.
Draw around all the sides of the box onto a piece of card like this.
| |
Then cut the shape out, and score along the lines.
Don't score along one of the shorter sides, as you don't want a crease in the bonnet!
Before you stick the card to the box, open up one end and cut off three of the flaps.
| |
Then stick the card to the box.
The easiest way to do this is with double-sided tape.
When the box is covered, get a small dish and draw around it on the side of the box, at the corner where the flap is.
| |
Cut the curved triangular shape out.
Do that on both sides, and it should give you a nice rounded bonnet.
| |
To make sure the bonnet stays shut, bend it over like this and fold the card where it overlaps the bottom of the box.
Put some hook and loop fastener at either end of the flap to hold it shut.
| |
To make the car roof, stick a piece of white card onto the bottom of a plastic takeaway box.
Then put a large piece of black card on top of the lid.
| |
Turn the lid over, and stick a smaller piece of black card on the inside.
Put the container back together and stick it on top of the car body.
Make sure you stick it on the opposite end to the bonnet like this.
| |
Takeaway cup lids are great for the wheels because they've got indentations on them. When they're painted silver they look like flashy alloys!
Mix some PVA glue with the paint to help it stick to the lid.
When you've covered the lid and the paint has dried, give it an outline of black to look like a tyre.
| |
Then stick the tyres to the body.
For finishing touches, add a couple of card seats to act as dividers for your minidiscs.
| |
Draw some window struts onto the side of the plastic takeaway container.
Add some headlights and a grille made from foam.
You can also put a bumper on the back.
The exhaust pipe is a piece of straw painted and stuck on with double-sided tape.
| |
The aerial is a painted cut down cocktail stick that's pushed down into the bonnet.
Finish it off with a front number plate.
So get into gear - and store your minidisc player and discs in the Finger Tips Mini Disc Holder.
