Here's how to make a house for a mouse...
...but not that sort of mouse!
Where better to store your computer mouse than in a wedge of holey cheese on the side of your computer monitor?
| |
To make it, you'll need a piece of yellow foam. You can buy foam from art and craft shops.
Start by placing your mouse in the middle, at the top of the piece of foam.
To make the wedge shape, follow these instructions or print out the template.
Measure the width and length of the mouse. The average measurements are 8cm across and 13cm length.
| |
Draw a rectangle to fit the measurements of your mouse.
In this case, the rectangle Stephen drew was 8cm wide and 13cm long.
Below the first rectangle draw another identical one.
| |
Next, measure 5cm out from the edge of the rectangle, and make a mark.
Then draw a line from where the two rectangles meet to the mark you've just made.
| |
To glue the cheese together you need to make an extra flap on the edge of the line you've just drawn.
Do the same on the other side of the rectangles, and cut the shape out.
| |
Use a pair of scissors and a ruler to carefully score along all the drawn lines.
To make the holes in the cheese, fold bits of the foam and cut out a semi circle.
| |
Make as many holes as you like - but don't make them too big otherwise the mouse will fall out!
Leave the bottom rectangle hole free.
To stick it together, bend over the flaps and put on some glue.
| |
Fold the rectangle over and leave to dry.
Use a clip or peg to hold it in place whilst it dries.
To attach the wedge of cheese to your computer, put the hook part of some hook and loop fastener onto the side of the monitor.
| |
Put the loop part onto the back of the Mouse House.
Then stick the Mouse House onto your computer!
If you don't want to stick it to your computer, attach it to your desk - just make sure it's not too far for the mouse to run.
