This is the Rain Stick Insect - it looks fantastic and doubles up as a rain stick, too.
It's made using popcorn and a few kitchen roll tubes.
And it can be any length you like!
| |
Stick kitchen roll tubes together using masking tape.
Then pinch one end together and secure in place with more masking tape.
| |
Now you can add the rain!
Carefully pour unpopped popcorn into the kitchen roll tubes.
Add cling film to the top of the tubes.
Pull it tight and secure it in place with masking tape.
| |
The legs are made by putting three holes in either side of the tube with a sharp pencil.
Half-twist a pipe cleaner and run it into the tube until only the straight part is visible.
| |
The legs look good and also slow down the progress of the falling popcorn inside, to make the rainfall effect last longer.
Add some goggly eyes from either paper maché or polystyrene balls...
| |
...and then paint to the design of your choice.
And remember, they can be any size you like, too!
