Use this great Cryptic Finger Tip to keep secrets secret and other people's noses out of your business!

Look at the picture of flowers opposite. There's a secret message hidden in there. Here's how to decode it!
Both you and the person you are exchanging messages with will need a piece of red acetate.

You'll find red acetate in one half of a pair of 3D spectacles, so see if you can find a pair lying around.

Or you could give it a try with red, clear sweet wrappers...
The way it works is quite simple.

When placed over the top of a secret message the red acetate blocks out certain colours.

If you look at the picture of flowers opposite, you can see that the colours which remain spell out the secret message.
If you'd like to experiment with red filter writing, you need to test out which colours stay and which disappear when the red acetate is placed over them.

Simply try out each of your pens and sort them out into different piles according to which colours do and don't show under the red acetate.
Now that you know which ones do and don't work, you can make up your message.

Why not create a message telling your friend the time of a secret meeting?

The first thing to do is to draw a clock face. Use black ink for this.
Now, using one of the colours which you know stay, draw hands on the clock face that show the time you want to meet.
Then, using the colours which disappear, draw lots of other hands on the clock face, pointing in all different directions.
If you're really good with words, and take time to practise, you could try writing a real message inside a phoney one.

Or why not try a colour-coded e-mail using the same technique?
