Here are some great ideas for a party themed around a shipwreck.

There's a great game you can make, too!
Why not recreate a deserted desert island in your living room?

Decorate the room with plank-like strips of cardboard, painted with a woodgrain effect! And if you can find a huge piece of cardboard you can make a broken ship's hull!
Drape the wood you make with seaweed, made from anything green including recycled carrier bags!
You can use cardboard to make a broken ship's wheel too!

And we've got a design that you can copy here.

We've got a seagull template too. Go here for the first part and here for the second. Cut them out and stick together!
Dress up as if you've been shipwrecked!

Baggy trousers tied with a rope belt and a baggy shirt tied with a knot will look great.
A necklace made from shell shaped pasta tied with string will add to the effect!
For headgear, wear a bandana or a straw hat cut around the edges to look tattered.
Tempt your guests with exotic fruit punches...
...and crab croissants!

These are just ordinary croissants sliced through and filled with whatever you fancy. Decorated with raisin eyes and cheese claws!
These are jelly rock pools - green jelly featuring creature shaped sweets!

Don't they look fantastic?
The centrepiece of your Shipwreck Party could be this fantastic game of Squid Rings!

The aim is to toss as many rings over the squid's tentacles as possible. And the one with the most rings wins!
To make Squid Rings you'll need six pairs of old tights. Green ones look best but you can use any colour at all

One pair is used for the head, and the other five are for the tentacles!
The tentacles are bendy, and this is because they're supported with garden wire.
Get some garden wire. You need double the length of each of the tentacles.

Carefully straighten it out, and stick both ends together with tape.
You'll need to make ten of these lengths of garden wire for each tentacle.

Just carefully thread one into each leg of the tights.
Now you can stuff the tentacles!

Small polystyrene balls are perfect for this. You can get them from craft shops in big bags quite cheaply.

Make a card cone to funnel them in, and use your hands to guide them down into the full length of each leg.
When done, the tentacles will look something like this!

Tie them all together and cut off the excess.
The head is made by taping two corners of a sealable freezer bag back, like this.
Fill up the bag with more polystyrene balls, right to the top.

Then seal the bag up.
For the finishing touch, get the last pair of tights and pop them over the bag of polystyrene balls.

Then just tie it onto the tentacles in a good knot.
The rings are made from rolls of newspaper wrapped in tissue paper and stuck into a loop shape.

Make different colour rings for each player or team.
.
And don't forget you can customise your squid by adding eyes to the head...
...and decorating the tentacles with fabric paint!

You can also add seaweed from strips of green crepe paper!
