Introducing the fabulous Finger Tips Slam Dunk!

You can use it to keep your waste paper, or socks...
...or, make the open version and use it to practice your shots!
If you'd like to make this, start with a single wire coat hanger.

Get an adult to bend it into a hoop shape for you.
You'll also need lots of parcel wrapping ribbon...
...and lots of beads with a nice wide hole in the middle.
Once you've chosen the beads that you want, stick the hoop onto a comfortable working height with some tape.

In this shot you can see the shape it needs to be bent into.
Get 20 x 1m lengths of the parcel wrapping ribbon and tie them onto the hoop, like this.
Make the back board from a large piece of cardboard.

Draw out a perfect semicircle onto the cardboard. To do this, tie a pencil onto one end of a piece of string...
...and measure out half the width of the cardboard. Tie a knot in the other end of the string, and pop a drawing pin through the knot...
...and pin it to the centre of the cardboard.

Then outstretch the string, and draw a semicircle.

If you keep the string tight, you'll get a perfect shape.
Cut the semicircle out, and paint it any colour you like.

This one's yellow.
Now, back to the basket.

Take two adjacent lengths of the parcel ribbon and thread a bead on.

Push the bead up to the top until you get a little triangle shape, like this.
Keep going...
...and going...
...and going...
...until you're happy with the length.
When you're satisfied, go around one more time at the base of the basket.

This time, without beads. Just tie a knot in each length, to stop the beads from falling off!
If you like, you can make the entire basket by using knots in the ribbon, with no beads at all.

It's up to you - but using beads will make the job easier and quicker to do, and they look great!
To attach the basket to the back board, get an adult to flatten out the hook part of the hanger, push it through the bottom of the backboard and stick the straightened wire to the back of the cardboard with plenty of sticky tape.
Customise your back board however you like - this one features the Finger Tips hand!
If you want to store things in the basket, just gather up the ends of the parcel ribbon and tie a knot to keep them together.
Or, if you want to use the basket to practice your shots, just trim off the excess ribbon at the bottom.
That completes the Slam Dunk!
