Ready? Go!
Start with a rectangle of foam, with a small curve on top, like this.
Now stick on wing shapes, also made from foam.
| |
Don't forget to cut a tab out at one end of the rectangle of foam!
Next, stick one part of a piece of hook and loop fastener on the tab...
| |
...and the other part on the back of other end of foam.
Decorate the foam with some black circle stickers...
| |
...and use a hole punch to make two holes in the curved bit of the rectangle.
Finish it off with a pair of wobbly eyes.
And stop the clock! Stephen finished in 58 seconds - what was your time?
| |
Wrap the rectangle of foam around a mug.
Stick it in place with the hook and eye fastener on the tab.
And there you have a Snug Mug Bug!
You can give it a final, finishing touch by putting a couple of straws in the holes you made at the top for antennae!
| |
Pick it up and drink away!
When you make this, be sure that your rectangle of foam is long enough. Do this by wrapping it around the mug - the rectangle should overlap at the handle so that there's room to cut the tab.
If you've got a few minutes more you could have a go at making a grasshopper with long legs...
| |
...a stripey wasp...
...a butterfly with floppy antennae...
| |
...and a dragonfly with delicate wings!
