Whether you've ever dreamed of being a football hero...
...a tennis star...
...or a swimming champion, you'll love these ideas for a Finger Tips sports party.
For decorations, hang bunting from string.

It's made from triangles of thin card.
...or make up a chequered flag like this!
These giant medals are great.

They're made from kitchen foil, written on with black marker.

Add ridges and detail by drawing on the back with a blunt pencil.
Check this cup out. It was made from a pair of two litre milk cartons cut in half, keeping the handle half, with a cut down large drinks bottle slotted and glued in the middle. The whole thing is on an upturned polystyrene cup and paper plate.

Looks good, doesn't it?
For food ideas, how about these medal biscuits?

Just add ribbon to circular biscuits and use piping icing to add 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
And don't these athletes feet cheese sandwiches look cool?
Pit stop pizzas, decorated to look like steering wheels, are another great idea.
And a sporty carrot cake, decorated with every sport you can imagine is another possibility for your Sports Party.

Finger Tips would like to thank Renshaw Scott for supplying the sugar paste used in decorating the cakes.
Dress in sports kis - like a judo star...
...a top class footie player...
...or a champion tennis ace. .
For a game idea, how about these Finger Tips Racing Snails?
The idea is to wind up the snails and race them along a course.

They may need a helping hand, but whichever one reaches the finishing post first is the winner!
To make the game, you'll need to get some cotton reels.

You need one for each snail.
Start by filling in all the outside holes with modelling clay, to add weight to each cotton reel.

Don't put any modelling clay in the middle hole, as you'll need to thread an elastic band through it shortly.
Wrap a thick elastic band all the way around the middle of the cotton reel, to create a grippy tyre.
Take a thinner elastic band and thread it through the hole in the middle.
Secure one end of the thinner elastic band in place by putting a small piece of barbecue skewer through the loop, like this...
...and stick it into place with some tape so that it can't move about.
Next, draw around a 2p coin onto some cardboard box card.
Cut the circle out to produce a cardboard disc, like this...
Then make a hole in the middle of the disc by piercing a sharp pencil through, into a piece of modelling clay.
This produces a cardboard washer.

Thread it onto the elastic band, and add on five small metal washers.

They're cheap and easy to get hold of and are the best thing for making the snails run smoothly.
Tie a knot in the elastic band, about 1cm above the last metal washer, like this.
Thread a longer piece of barbecue skewer through the loop that sits between the topmost washer and the knot.

It should look something like this...
Cut off any excess elastic band above the knot.
The shells are made from small dessert pots like this.

They're the perfect size.
On one side, cut an arch that's slightly bigger than the width of a 2p coin.
Weigh down the dessert pot by taping 2p coins inside, on either side of the arch.
Draw the snail onto a piece of card.

The snail has to be big enough to cover the whole of the dessert pot!

Get a snail template by clicking here.
Stick the snail's body onto the dessert pot, on the opposite side to the arch.
Add a few 2p coins to the end of the cotton reel to give it extra weight.
Now you can wind up the engines, pop them inside the snails and get ready to start.
If you like, why not make your own snail racing track, complete with banners at the start...
...and at the finish, of course!
Make barriers with advertisements to keep the snails going in the right direction.
Add in some model railway bushes...
...and how about a cardboard bridge for the snails to race under?
Now you're ready to race!

Ready, steady, go!
