Nobody will be able to resist trying to peek what's inside this Top Make.

We've called it Wotz In The Box, because it'll keep everyone guessing until you choose to surprise them!
Inside is a balloon which, when pumped up, causes the lid to open so that you can see the eyes.

Pretty cool, eh?
This Top Make starts off as a tea bag box with a flip-top lid, like this.
And the eyes are just ping pong balls with pupils drawn onto them with a black marker.
Paint the inside of the box black to make it look more mysterious.
The gadget that'll make the lid pop up is made from a toilet roll tube painted black, a balloon, an elastic band and a length of aquarium tubing.
Stretch the balloon and blow it up a few times to make it nice and supple.
Push the tubing part of the way into the balloon, and then secure it in place by wrapping the elastic band around a couple of times.
You only want the balloon to blow upwards, so get the toilet roll tube and stick the aquatic tube and balloon inside so that the balloon is sticking out of one end.

It should look something like this...
Now you can secure this gadget into the box.

Make a hole in the back like this...
...and thread the tubing through from the inside.
Now secure the toilet roll tube to the back of the box.
You can decorate the eyes if you like.

This one has black card around them, some red flufeyebrows and a small fuzzy nose!
Stick the whole thing to a piece of black card with a flap, like this, so that you can stick the eyes to the lid of box.
Test that the eyes will fit into the box when the lid is closed before you stick in place.
Add a bag of sand to the bottom to weigh it down...
...and now you can test.

Attach a balloon pump to one end of the tubing, and inflate to see the eyes pop up!

Disconnect the pump and the balloon inside will deflate, and the eyes will disappear! Once you've tested and are happy that it works well enough, you can decorate.

This one has a wooden effect and a prominent warning label.

For other ideas, how about a caged thing...
...or a creature inside a secure metal container!
